Capital retains top spot in Rajar figures

6 August 2009 17:51

Capital FM has retained its position as the most listened to breakfast show on UK commercial radio station in the latest Rajar figures.

The second quarter figures, which cover the three months ending in June, showed that the programme hosted by Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon averaged a listenership of 1.16 million during the period, according to Media Week.

In second place was Magic FM's breakfast show hosted by Neil Fox, which managed to attract an average of 858,000 listeners, beating former second placed Heart into third.

Capital FM has enjoyed noteable success since model Lisa Snowdon took over from Denise Van Outen as Johnny Vaughan's co-host.

The station has also been helped by a number of high profile guests such as Katie Price, Peter Andre and Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman.

Throughout the full day, Bauer Media's Magic 105.4 was the most popular commercial radio station in London, according to Media Week.
