National Geographic appoints new international advertising MD

Charlie Attenborough has been appointed as the National Geographic Society's new managing director for international advertising.

According to Campaign Live, he will oversee the promotion of the group's magazine and digital portfolio.

He will take over from Steve Middleton, who is leaving the company, and will report to senior international vice president Declan Moore.

Mr Attenborough will work in National Geographic's London office and will be responsible for leading teams across Asia Pacific and Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Moore said: "We have a great team in London and high-calibre representation around the world, and I am looking forward to the future under Charlie's leadership."

The National Geographic Society is a non-profit scientific and educational institution which publishes an official journal called National Geographic as well as a range of other magazines, books and school publications.

It also produces television programmes and has its own dedicated channel, as well as an extensive website.
