Bauer planning FHM makeover

21 January 2010 17:13

Men's magazine FHM is to undergo a makeover in an effort to boost readership.

Bauer Media, which publishes the flagship title, is looking to target a more sophisticated audience and shake off its lad's mag reputation.

According to Campaign Live, it will be the third design overhaul in recent months as the publication looks to strike the right balance.

Editor Colin Kennedy and the design team at FHM, led by Jeremy Leslie, will be introducing a new layout in the March issue.

Commenting on the last overhaul in December, Mr Kennedy said some of the new features were like "exotic specials on a takeaway menu".

"It seemed like a good idea at the time, but in the morning you remember why you're better off sticking to the usual order," he explained.

If FHM can get it right, those seeking media jobs at the magazine, or with other Bauer Media publications, could see some interesting opportunities open up.

FHM is aimed at professional men aged 18 to 35. In 2008 it was named International Magazine of the Year by magazine trade body the PPA.
