Trinity Mirror unveils improved figures

12 November 2009 18:00

Publishing group Trinity Mirror has unveiled a better-than-expected set of results for the 17 weeks to October 25th 2009.

The company said it remains confident that its performance for the year will be in line with expectations, after announcing that falls in its advertising sales had narrowed.

"Although trading conditions have remained difficult since the half year with continued pressure on revenue from the poor economic environment, we have seen an improvement in the rate of decline in revenues," the group said.

Trinity Mirror confirmed that it remains cash generative and is on track to deliver cost savings of £35 million in 2009, in addition to reducing its net debt by a further £16 million.

It also pointed out that in spite of the current economic climate, it has manage to launch several online brands which have been well-received by readers.

The results could come as good news to those seeking media jobs in editorial or media sales with Trinity Mirror.

The group's national titles include the Daily Mirror, the People and the Sunday Mail. It also has regional publications across the UK.
