Top media agency job vacant at Mindshare

11 January 2010 17:07

The position of global business director at one of the UK's top media agencies has become open, just six months after being filled.

Kevin Murphy took on the role of global client and business development director at Mindshare in September of 2009.

The 37-year-old was tasked with developing the WPP agency's worldwide client base and boosting both direct and digital media capabilities in the UK and on a European-level.

However, Media Week has now reported that Murphy stepped down from the high-profile position at the end of the year and has since moved on to head up McCann Erikson's media department in Birmingham.

Explaining the reasons for his departure, the former Zed joint managing director stated that the international responsibilities of the role meant he was having to spend more time away from his young family than he liked.

"Mindshare is a great agency which made it such a difficult decision but I had to put my family commitments first," he said to Media Week.

At the same time, the agency's chief executive Jed Glanvill told the publication that there will be a restructuring to cover Murphy's exit.

Mindshare, which was set up in 1997, currently boasts a global workforce in excess of 6,000, with 97 offices in 67 countries.
