Journalist strike on the cards for Mirror

Trinity Mirror announced last month that all regional newspaper staff will have to reapply for their jobs, and that 65 positions would be scrapped in the process.
"They [Trinity Mirror management] are fairly set on what they want to do, we have been left wondering how meaningful further consultation will be," said Jenny Lennox, NUJ assistant North of England organiser.
"But the door is still open for further talks, which is the positive thing."
However, Trinity Mirror has criticised the strike action, deeming the potential action a waste of time and counterproductive.
Australian media owner Fairfax has also recently come up against strike action following its decision to sack long-term editor of the Melbourne Age, as well as lay off scores of journalists.
