Demand for IT workers 'increasing'
4 March 2010 12:51
There has "definitely" been an increase in demand for IT workers in recent months, according to the Association of Recruitment Consultants (ARC).
Chairman Adrian Marlowe said is it not yet clear whether this growth will be a "continuous trend". However, he said his members have certainly seen a rise in IT requirements.
His comments come after a report by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) revealed that there had been a stronger rise in permanent jobs in February, with the IT sector proving particularly resilient.
Mr Marlowe explained that having "laid low" for the last 18 months, many firms are now looking to upgrade their IT systems and require additional staff to help them achieve this.
He said none of the ARC's members operating in other sectors have seen any particular increase in work requirements.
According to the REC report, overall demand for staff has been growing continuously for five consecutive months.
