Guardian iPhone app proves popular

According to Guardian News and Media, the figures prove that consumers are willing to pay for quality news content.
The publisher, like many of its rivals, has been looking for new ways to generate revenue by charging for access to its stories.
Mobile applications from some other news providers, including Sky News, are currently free, whereas the Guardian app costs £2.39.
Sky revealed recently that its iPhone app has been downloaded more than one million times.
The Guardian figures are to be welcomed by those seeking media jobs with UK newspapers, as it suggests that paid-for content could be a way forward for the industry.
Trinity Mirror has also launched paid-for iPhone apps for its football and entertainment websites Mirrorfootball.co.uk and 3am.co.uk.
