Twitter launches jobs-tracking application

28 January 2010 12:17

The potential of social media as a recruitment tool has been highlighted by the launch of a new jobs-tracking application on Twitter.

JobDeck has been developed by TweetDeck and TwitJobSearch, which allows Twitter users to read the latest recruitment news and keep up-to-date on the latest job postings.

The Guardian reports that finding vacancies "has been made easier" with human resources departments already using social media to recruit new employees, and this latest development can only bolster this trend.

Howard Lee, chief executive officer of WorkDigital, the business responsible for TwitJobSearch, said he is "absolutely thrilled" to be in a position to "reinvent the recruitment process".

"Recruitment is quickly evolving and better tools to manage this shift are an essential part of any career management suite," he commented.

Companies are becoming more inclined to embrace social media products due to their massive popularity, with 400 million people around the world members of websites such as Twitter, Facebook and MySpace.

Twitter has more than 50,000 registered applications, a number that is growing all the time.
