Senior Reporter (Finance/Property)
Your Profile
The successful senior reporter for this vacancy will have substantial proven experience of producing news in the finance and/or property industry, and possess experience in writing quickly and accurately for websites or wire services.
You will need to demonstrate the ability and confidence to interact and gain information from senior figures within the industry, as well as be comfortable explaining complicated financial instruments.
But most of all, applicants should have a passion for breaking market-moving stories. Experience required includes:
* Educated to degree level
* Journalism training and qualification
* Strong interviewing and writing skills
* Able to get to grips with complex subjects
* Comfortable with analysing balance sheets and data; able to deal with numbers and statistics and find the stories behind them.
* Experience of working as a news reporter covering a financial area
* Previous knowledge of the property market is not essential, but the chosen candidate will have a strong interest in business reporting
The Role
The successful Senior Reporter will write online news on a daily basis, deliver multi-media content and contribute news and features to the print title. Duties will include:
* Take on responsibility for a defined beat
* Dig out exclusive stories on that beat
* Cover industry announcements, in particular company results
* Write regular analysis and feature articles
* Build up industry contacts
* Interview on camera for the clients multi-media coverage
