The successful News Desk Manager and London Bureau Chief will have a minimum of 4 years of financial journalism experience. You will have gained strong news writing experience in newspapers, magazines or newsletters. It is essential that you have a fluency in journalistic areas (AP style, libel issues, etc.) and possess strong Editorial skills. Due to the managerial nature of this position, it is also essential that you have at least two years of management experience.
The Role
As News Desk Manager and London Bureau Chief you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the financial news desk, as well as working alongside and managing the global news teams. You will be required to supervise editorial staff, setting goals, conducting performance reviews and resolving personnel issues.
The successful candidate will assure that news is appropriately distributed and made visible across all of the companies products. You will expand data-driven coverage by liaising with content managers and research to develop individual and recurring story concepts.
The role will also require you to research and write news stories, investigate and resolve errors, and communicate with sources and subjects of stories regarding complaints and questions about coverage.
You will acts as the on-site manager for London reporters and editors, mentoring reporters/editors as needed. You will need to maintain strong ties with the US based Newsroom.
