
The Role
The role as a Business Development manager selling into the Investor relations research market you will be reporting directly into senior board members and will involve you to undertake the following main tasks and responsibilities:
- Primary developer and cultivator of leads, using multiple sources including cold calling, dormant and prospective client companies, and in-bound enquiries.
- Build and maintain strong and up-to-date pipeline/prospect list within UK Small/Mid-Cap space.
- Undertake analysis of potential clients to determine those which will deliver the greatest potential value whilst retaining and enhancing the value of my clients brand.
- Working closely with the various sector teams to ensure we maximise all corporate sales opportunities.
- Contribute to the sales strategy in terms of market and client segmentation analysis as well as profiling and researching existing and potential accounts.
- Taking responsibility for parts of corporate marketing strategy.
- Monitor news flow from target companies and take appropriate action.
- Liaise closely with the Directors and Sector Heads to agree sales plan and resourcing for each industry sector.
- Form part of reporting team to senior management.

Corporate services include Research Service, Investor Access Service, and Commercial Due Diligence Service. In order to facilitate the growth in the number of companies under coverage, maximise cross selling opportunities, whilst maintaining the quality of the brand, my client has identified a need for a Business Development Manager.
Your Profile
Your profile as a Business Development manager selling into the Investor Relations research market must include the following experience:
- Demonstrable sales experience gained within business to business environment marketing and selling
- Proven experience of developing effective relationships with client prospects during the sales process
- You MUST have experience in capital markets and from a corporate finance/broking background which will massively complement my clients work
- The presence and gravitas to work with senior management within client companies.
- Adept at client liaison and communication and possessing excellent negotiation skills.
- Ideally, strong understanding of financial markets
- Excellent communicator with strong listening skills and flexible style.
- Proactive, efficient and enthusiastic, with exceptionally strong organisational skills
- Broad knowledge and understanding of financial markets and macro-economic issues.
- Self motivated, working equally competently on your own and as part of a team.
- Strong team player, able to involve, engage and motivate members of the research team in the sales process.
- A driven self-starter with an entrepreneurial mind set.
- Possess a strong academic record
- Computer literate with proven experience using MS office
