CV Tips

Since 1992 pfj have matched and placed thousands of people in great media related jobs.

Our consultants are experts in their fields and can assist you throughout the process. When you come in to meet us, our consultants will be able to give you personalised advice and tips on how to improve your CV. While each CV is of course unique, reflecting your individual skills, we've put together some tips that apply to the vast majority of CVs.

• Your CV is your sales brochure so make sure you tailor it for each role you apply for. Make sure the most relevant  experience to the particular job is clear to the employer.

• Any personal statement should be brief and state your objective. It should be tailored for the job you're applying for.

• CVs should ideally be no longer than 2 pages.

• With the exception of those working in creative and design roles, CV's should be on white paper with a normal font  no less  than size 11.

• Make your CV database friendly by including relevant keywords

• Check the dates of each job carefully and explain any gaps.

• Describe briefly what each company you've worked for does, unless it's obvious.
