Working for Aspire Global Network

18 Oct 12 - 12:00AM  | General

By Bill Maynard

Bill MaynardI joined RPCushing, a brand within Aspire Global Network (AGN), in March 2011 as an Executive Consultant and was then promoted to Team Manager for Analytics and Information recruitment. I absolutely love the company I work for and the people I work with but almost never joined at all!

For personal reasons, in May 2009, I had to reluctantly leave the recruitment company I was working for in Dorset and move to London. A colleague of mine put me in touch with Charlotte Mullen, the AGN HR Director and I came in for an interview; Charlotte was fantastic, passionate and informative about her company and engaging enough to make me very interested in the role. We got on well and Charlotte was keen for me to progress to the second round. With hindsight, I should have listened to her, I liked what I had heard, the innovative and entrepreneurial nature of the company suited my background, their offices were central London and 2 minutes from my wife’s offices (could be a positive or negative!). In reality though, I had already received an offer of employment at a large organisation as an internal recruitment manager, setting up a new internal recruitment function and whilst AGN put my mind into doubt, I accepted the other offer. This move should and could have been a career defining opportunity but it was a mistake and after 18 months of trying to make it work, I came crawling back to Aspire Global Network.

Charlotte remembered me instantly when I made contact with her via LinkedIn and invited me back in for a chat and things went from there, even though I managed to slip a disc in my back during the interview process AGN were very accommodating. So essentially, I finally joined the company I should have joined 18 months previously and even though I learnt a lot in that time and have no regrets, perhaps I should have gone with my heart and not my head when I first met AGN and joined back in January 2010, not March 2011! AGN is clearly the best company I have ever worked for, they provide me with everything I need to both do and be happy in my job.
